Ocho Rios, Jamaica Trip in Pictures & Quick Recap
Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 3:37PM Ocho Rios:
A friend of mine managed to win a free trip to Jamaica in a contest that CNBC was hosting and was kind enough to bring me along for the ride. The recap:
- The Royal Plantation: a highly recommended and gorgeous resort (thanks CNBC!)

- Toscanini: delicious italian food with a constantly changing list of specials, lots of great seafood dishes, beautiful setting in Harmony Hall
Prosciutto with Papaya - Pigs are magical animals and prosciutto with anything is alright by me. This payapa/prosciutto combination was really, really good and not something I've ever had before. Perfect blend of perfectly ripened sweetness + salty porkiness.
Homemade papardelle and spiny lobster in a cream sauce - So, so creamy and good. I don't eat much lobster in NY but I feel compelled to order spiny lobster whenever I see it on a menu near an ocean and that's usually a good bet :)
Profiteroles with chocolate sauce - How can you go wrong with pastries smothered in chocolate?
- Scotchie's jerk chicken: the best jerk chicken/pork shack in Ochos Rios. Grab a red stripe and sample all of the different meats in the outdoor eating area and you'll be a happy camper
- Dunn's River Falls:touristy, yes but still fun - climb up a waterfall and try not to drop your camera in the water

- Mystic Mountain: ziplining, bobsledding and gorgeous views
